HARVEY CAUSON FAULT LINES
Every now and then we stumble across an artist that really has it all. London songwriter, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Harvey Causon is definitely one of them. Setting the bar high with his infectious recent single ‘Psycho’, ‘Fault Lines’ is a flawless follow up. Bursting with rich synth work and thick electronic beats, Causon’s velvety vocals melt like butter over the tastefully saucy instrumental. Navigating accomplished vocal hooks and jazzy instrumental sax breaks, ‘Fault Lines’ leaves you lingering on Causon’s every word, letting his sumptuous lyricism take centre stage within the accomplished arrangement as he explains: "It’s about the stage before you allow yourself to fall in love with someone. It’s about the feeling of exploring a new city on a hot summer night with someone that you are also navigating. The air tastes different and everything smells sweeter, everything feels possible. The backstreets, the abstract bokeh of lights akin to the initial dots of a blooming relationship. The mundane seems more enchanting than usual. Ultimately it’s about letting go and the feeling of wanting someone. The full live brass section and strings underneath saxophones, synths and samples of piano pedals moving give it a broodiness and a lightness at the same time." With all of this in mind it’s no surprise that Sampha’s a fan. -Holly Mullineaux
